Level 1 Novice Mid to Novice High

L1.1.A The student is expected to ask and respond to questions about everyday life in spoken and written conversation.

 

L1.1.B The student is expected to express and exchange personal opinions or preferences in spoken and written communication.

 

L1.1.C The student is expected to ask and tell others what they need to, should, or must do in a spoken and written situation.

 

L1.1.D The student is expected to articulate requests, offer alternatives, or develop simple plans in spoken and written conversation.

 

L.1.1.E The student is expected to participate in spoken conversation using culturally appropriate expressions, register, and gestures.

 

L1.1.F The student is expected to participate in written conversation using culturally appropriate expressions, register, and style.

 

L1.2.A  The student is expected to demonstrate an understanding of culturally authentic print, digital, audio, and audiovisual materials in everyday contexts.

 

L1.2.B  The student is expected to identify key words and details from fiction and nonfiction texts, audio, and audiovisual materials.

 

L1.2.C  The student is expected to infer meaning of unfamiliar words or phrases in highly contextualized texts, audio, and audiovisual materials.

 

L1.2.D  The student is expected to identify cultural practices from authentic print, digital, audio, and audiovisual materials.

 

L1.3.A  The student is expected to state and support an opinion or preference orally and in writing.

 

L1.3.B  The student is expected to describe people, objects, and simple situations orally and in writing using a mixture of words, phrases, and simple sentences.
